About Katie
I’ve had the honor of meeting many people over the years and learning from their stories. Many have found their way to my office because of a curiosity about themselves, their pasts, or how they experience the world around them. Sometimes, it is a sense of being stuck in where they are going in their relationship or profession. Other times, it is a desire to settle an uneasiness inside or heal a hurt that they have carried for long enough.
My expertise is working with survivors of childhood abuse, domestic, and sexual violence. I provide therapy and psychoeducation from a trauma-informed perspective to develop an understanding of how trauma may impact how you live, love, and work. Together, you will share your story of how your mind and body have gotten you this far, and write the next chapter of where you would like to go!
My career path has been a winding road. I began in community mental health working with survivors of domestic violence and substance abuse. Then, I had the opportunity to transition to local government working with teens and families where I had the pleasure of collaborating on several community coalitions with a focus on community wellness. During this time, my interest in trauma-informed work grew as I began to see in those around me, and in myself, that what we have been through, and learn to thrive through, shapes the lens in which we see the world. My interest in learning more about trauma-focused care led me to completing advanced training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Psychotherapy and the Unyte-iLs Safe and Sound Protocol.
When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I try to get away for some travel, near or far, as often as I can. I like to be in nature. Laughing is also a priority, so I love a long walk catching up on Smartless podcast episodes.
